Happy Campers

I’ve been lucky to work with a variety of great clients, from magazine and guidebook publishers to conservation charities, hotels and marketing agencies. Here’s what some of them have to say about my work (no brown envelopes exchanged hands, honest):

It’s always a pleasure working with Rich. He’s a highly skilled writer and editor, and a true professional who remains calm, friendly and focused under pressure. He did a fantastic job editing the John Muir Trust’s Journal and pulling together our Members’ News for many years, and remains on board today as our go-to writer for tackling major features. We’d certainly recommend him to anyone.

We’ve worked with Rich for almost a decade during which time he has consistently and reliably produced high-quality and engaging content for our member magazine, Scottish Wildlife. He has contributed articles on a wide range of subjects, from marine renewable energy to pollinators and from peatland restoration to learning for sustainability, and has always delivered on brief and on time.

Pocket Mountains has worked with Rich almost since we started a dozen years ago. He has written two very successful guides to Scottish wildlife for us (sales of over 12,000), co-written a guide to mountain biking techniques and recently began assisting us more regularly as a project manager on various titles. He is a first-class writer who always lives up to expectations, delivers work of the highest standard and is a real pleasure to work with.

Rich has been a contributing writer on The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland’s membership magazine for several years, covering everything from snow leopard conversation to charting the story of the Highland Wildlife Park. I’m delighted to say that every single piece he has written for us has hit the mark. Balancing popular science with a more news-driven approach is never easy, but Rich manages it with aplomb, always asking the right questions, finding the right angles and delivering to the original brief. We’re extremely fortunate to have him!

We first met Rich some six years ago when he was editor of one of our favourite magazines, Scotland Outdoors. Being great fans of his knowledge and style, we approached him to write our e-blasts and blogs. His natural enthusiasm and expertise on everything outdoors is infectious and his writing style easy and compelling. He is very easy to work with and has an uncanny ability to turn his hand to most things, invariably producing excellent work to the required deadline.

Rich has worked with the Eastgate for the past three years – providing press and marketing support, and contributing new ideas and fresh thinking to the theatre’s programme of festivals and special events. He has a great knack for finding interesting people, asking them the right questions, and turning their answers into beautifully written copy which you really want to read from beginning to end.
